Hi! I'm Dr Kris! Since 1998, when I graduated with honors from vet school, I've been providing veterinary services for small animals and exotic pets . Before that, I also worked in vet hospitals during college, did an internship in North Carolina at a small animal and exotic pet hospital and worked at a zoo in between semesters too. Prior to vet school I was involved in several animal related jobs and vet jobs such as small animal vet tech, dog bather, zoo keeper assistant, zoo vet tech, pet store animal care and maintenance, pet sitting, and more. Since becoming a vet, I have worked in several small animal hospitals, exotic animal hospitals, spay and neuter clinics, rescue facilities and even developed and ran my own solo small animal and exotic pet practice for about 16 years! I have been able to treat dogs, cats and exotic animals for a vast array of medical and surgical problems as well as urgent care, behavior, and nutrition conditions and more. I believe in preventative medicine to try to keep our fur babies as healthy as possible. I am a USDA level 2 accredited vet, a member of AVMA and the CVMA and also attend conferences regularly to keep current with cutting edge veterinary information to provide the best medicine for your pets. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities and scrapbooking. Although at times I do still fill in at various hospitals to give their docs some time off, I am now expanding my veterinary services to help the pets in our local Plumas County and surrounding areas! I am excited to be offering veterinary house calls for your fur babies in the comfort of their own home where they can feel more relaxed. My goal is to bring leading-edge, compassionate and caring veterinary mobile house call services to the families in these mountain communities with the pet feeling calm and cool in their own home. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your furry, scaly or feathery family members!
Even as a little girl I have always had a special place in my heart for animals.
I can't remember I time that I have not had a fur baby in my life. They always have and will all hold a special place in my heart.
That's why I do this.

Although at times it is necessary to go in to the vet hospital, it can be stressful for some pets and people also.
However, many pet's veterinary needs can be met with a house call in the comfort of your own home. This can provide a more calm experience for everyone. House call visits are not meant to replace the brick and mortar vet hospitals but can add additional options to meet your pet's needs depending on the situation.

Book an appointment with me! I book up to 60 days in advance. CALL to REQUEST your desired day and time. TEXT me a good time to CALL to discuss your pet's needs and check availability. If this is urgent and if you can not reach me then you should go to your nearest emergency vet or regular vet

HOURS CAN VARY but will be most consistent with the following:
T, W, Th, Fri = 9-5
Sat = 10-2, Varies
Sun & Mon = OFF
Call to enquire. Please leave the following information: Your pet's name, species, concern, age and your location. I will do my best to return a call with in 24 hours but if this is urgent or an emergency I recommend that you don't wait. Calls, most likely, will not be answered on off days or after 5 pm.

***Examples of EMERGENCIES are life threatening occurances such as being hit by car, major trauma, non- stop seizures, difficulty breathing, and collapse and male cats that have not been able to urinate as well as other things.
URGENT CARE is typically non-life- threatening that needs more immediate attention. Many urgent cases can be managed with a house call visit. Some examples are fox tails in the ears, vomiting and / or diarrhea, more severe skin issues, eye problems, and limping. However, sometimes it is difficult to asses at home and it may be found at an exam that more diagnostics and / or treatment is needed and the pet may need to be referred.

The pet's owner, who is over 18 years of age, will need to be present for the exam. I may need assistance in holding your pet for the exam or treatments. I need the person that can handle the pet to be home at the time of the house call to assist with this. Many pet's needs can be met with a veterinary house call but there are still cases that can not and your pet may need to be referred to a full service hospital. There is no guarantee of a positive outcome in medicine. If this exam is for a cat I recommend that you pet your pet in a small room the night before so that kitty makes it to the exam. Please note that payment is due at the time of services. No shows (clients and / or pets) or cancellations not made with 24 hours or more notice will owe the full house call exam fee payable at that time.
